Dream yourself into a summer picnic scene with this self-made miniature world! The idea is easy to recreate. The finished decoration is a great eye-catcher for spring and summer. Or you can use it as the basis for a monetary gift.
You need a stable base for the miniature world. For example, cut grey cardboard to a size of your choice, cover the surface with artificial grass tape.
Crafting a picnic scene
Prime the papier-mâché trees with white gesso. This creates a surface that is ideal for painting with watercolour: paint a typical birch pattern on the trees with diluted black watercolour.
After everything has dried sufficiently, you can attach the Iceland moss as a tree crown and glue the trees onto the board.
If you now paint the small wooden dish with pastel colours, this will look particularly spring-like or summery in the picnic scene.

Erect the tepee
For the tepee, shorten four round sticks to an equal length (the length depends on the size of the tepee in your miniature world). Put the sticks together to form the tipi shape, fix them with some hot glue if necessary and use sewing thread to tie them together at the top.
Once the tepee is in place, stretch the piece of fabric over it and fix it with a little glue.
Finally, paint the lights of the fairy lights with bright colours, just as you like.
To add the finishing touches, you can decorate the whole scene with more fabrics as well as miniatures. How about small additional picnic blankets or a bicycle? This will make the whole thing even more realistic.
