What is a Secret Santa Door?


A Secret Santa door is a cute accessory that can be decorated above the baseboard, on the staircase or anywhere else in the house in the run-up to Christmas. There are endless design possibilities with the Secret Santa door and it is a great craft project to get creative and make the door very individual. The Secret Santa door opens the entrance to a great pre-Christmas story for you and your children, in which an elf moves into your home. This stimulates the children's imagination and brings a magic into your home. The pre-Christmas period is shortened by great stories about the Secret Santa.

Originally, the custom of the Secret Santa comes from Denmark. Here, the elf who moves into the house before Christmas is usually called Nisse. The custom of creating a Secret Santa door in one's house only came to Germany a few years ago.

Secret Santa Clauses are nice, friendly creatures who, in the run-up to Christmas, decorate their Secret Santa door in a different way, address personal words to their housemates in the form of notes and letters, or sometimes even have a gift for the occupants of the house. What is the best way to attach the Secret Santa door?


Traditionally, the Secret Santa door is fixed above the skirting board, on the wall or even on steps. The best place is one that you can pass by during the day and that is also easily visible.

Poster strips, double-sided adhesive tape or adhesive dots can be used to attach it.

If you don't want to or can't attach anything to the wall, the Secret Santa doors can also be arranged in boxes or crates that can then be placed on the wall.

And what do the elves do?


The elves are out and about at night and sometimes leave something behind for the children. Whether it's the tracks that can be seen, a great craft idea that the elf has left behind for the children or even a small gift - the children will be thrilled and you can let loose according to your own creativity.
