Cut 2 satin cords to the desired total length. Each of the two cords must be about four times as long as the finished caterpillar.
Drill a vertical hole in the caterpillar head with a thin drill bit.
Thread the two satin cords through the hole from bottom to top, thread on the key ring and thread both ends back down.
Tip: With a loop of nylon thread you can Cords also pull it through a thin hole.
Pull the four ends to the same length, in the middle insert a 2 mm aluminium wire corresponding to the desired length of the caterpillar firmly into the caterpillar head.
Then tie weaver's knots or wave knots around the two guide cords and the wire as you wish. Tighten each knot firmly
For the legs, knot short pieces of matching coloured decorative aluminium wire directly into the hole and bend them into shape.
When the wire is completely covered, tie some more knots only over the guides. Secure the last knot with a drop of lightning glue, then cut off the ends.
Glue yellow Wooden balls glue on the ends of the legs.
Cut two feelers out of decorative aluminium wire, glue yellow on Wooden balls one end and fix the other end in the holes of the caterpillar head with lightning glue.
After drying, bend the caterpillars into shape.

Weaver's knot
Lay the right knotted cord horizontally over the two guide cords and under the left knotted cord
Lead the left knotting cord under the guide cords and through the loop created on the right side to the front
Tighten the resulting half weaver knot evenly.
Repeat this half weaver knot continuously, starting with the left and right knotting cord alternately


Wave nodes
Continuously tie half weaver knots, always starting with the knotting cord of the same side. Thus the wave knots turn spirally around the guides. After about 6 knots one revolution is reached.
