Introduction
Are you looking to transform your balcony or garden into a real oasis of well-being? A homemade wind chime is just what you need to give your outdoor space a personal and creative touch. With just a few materials and steps, you can create a decorative highlight that not only dazzles visually but also produces gentle sounds in the breeze. Let's get started and see how easy it is!
Wrapping the Hoop
Take the hoop and the crafting cord. Begin by tying a double knot around the hoop and wrap the entire hoop with the cord. The short end of the knot should be wrapped in so it doesn't need to be cut. It's important for the cord to be tight. Once completed, tie another double knot and cut the ends on the inside of the hoop so they remain unseen. Your hoop is now ready for the next steps.
Adding Transparent Cord and Beads
Thread the desired number of beads onto the transparent cord. For this example, 25 beads were used. Tie the cord at any point on the wrapped hoop. Pull the knot tight and wrap the cord in a star pattern around the hoop. Ensure better grip by wrapping the hoop. Don’t worry about the beads; they can be adjusted later since the cord is elastic. Once satisfied with the arrangement, tie the end to the outer hoop and cut it. Rearrange the beads until you're pleased with the look.
Attaching the Hanger
The base structure of the wind chime is complete. To hang the wind chime, attach the hanger. Use the transparent cord again and tie it at three points on the outer hoop. The cords should meet in the center. To balance the center, thread a few beads onto the cords or knot them together. Once you've balanced the center, tie a loop for hanging.
Attaching the Chimes and Listening to the Wind
After attaching the hanger, tie the chimes to the lower transparent cords. Arrange them as you like, but ensure the weight is evenly distributed so the wind chime can sway freely in the breeze. In this example, chimes were attached to the end of each star point, with the last chime tied at the center. Now find a nice spot for your unique wind chime and enjoy the calming melodies in the wind.
