Drawstring bags are currently not only super trendy but also extremely practical. They are perfect for adding a personal touch to an outfit. With this guide, you can easily and quickly sew your own drawstring bag. Whether for sports, school, or as a fashion accessory – this DIY drawstring bag is a real eye-catcher and unique.

Step 1: Cut and reinforce the fabric

Start by cutting the fabric to the desired measurements. We are using a pre-made bottom with a width of 77 cm and a height of 48 cm. The fabric is reinforced with fusible interfacing in the middle to ensure stability. Exempt are 12 cm at the top and bottom which remain without interfacing.

Step 2: Sew on the bottom

Now sew the bottom, which is already perforated, onto the right side of the fabric. This is done by hand to achieve a precise result.

Step 3: Sew the drawstring bag together

Fold the bag in half so that the outside is on the inside. Sew the bag together up to the 12 cm mark using a zigzag stitch. This mark keeps open for the Paracord string and the bottom.

Step 4: Iron, sew and fix

The upper part of the drawstring bag is now processed. The edges are doubled over and ironed, and then fixed with a small triangle as shown in the picture.

Step 5: Attach the cords

Mark 7 cm from the upper edge, fold the fabric double and iron it. Then sew this section to the bottom to create the tunnel for the Paracord cords. Thread the cords through the tunnel using a safety pin.
