Suncatcher with sound sticks
How to build your own suncatcher:
For the animation from the "Iridescent" paper and paper and foil mix, first use the iridescent paper in 120 g/m² and the wafer-thin iridescent foil in 0.018 mm thickness.Glue the wafer-thin film to the small acrylic disc using napkin varnish.
To do this, apply a thin layer of varnish to the disc with a brush. Then place the film on top and draw over it with the scraper.
Use the tweezers to cut the edges cleanly. Repeat the process on the reverse side.
Now transfer the templates for both discs to the back of the iridescent paper. Use the graphite paper for this. Cut out a piece, coat the back with napkin varnish and stick it onto the disc. Repeat the process on the reverse side.
Next, tie a Perlon thread separately to the tone bars. Pull the threads through the wooden beads. Tie a knot a few centimetres above and thread two wooden beads through again. Pass the threads through the hole on the underside of the small acrylic disc and knot the threads together.
Now pull a perlon thread through the hole at the top of the small acrylic disc, thread on the wooden beads, knot it a few centimetres above and thread on two more wooden beads.
Drill a hole in the bottom of the large acrylic disc. The threads of the small acrylic disc are pulled through this hole and knotted. Finally comes the loop. The same two wooden beads are threaded on here too.
