The fabrics by the meter school Aida fabric for coarse cross stitch is a first-class white handmade fabric from the house of Zweigart.
This white Aida fabric is a coarse classic woven fabric made of 100% cotton: 33 stitches in full 10 cm steps.
The waffle-like structure of the fabric makes it especially suitable for first embroidery attempts. The cotton thread is mercerised and gauze-like, which makes embroidery even easier. In schools, this fabric is especially used for cross-stitching, hence the classic name Schul-Aida.
Aida fabric is suitable for many embroidery ideas. From small appliqués for decorating cushions and glass vases to large handicraft projects such as home-made table linen, the fabric is often used as a basis for handicraft. The high-quality fabric is boil-proof.
Extra tip: Handmade fabrics should always be washed before embroidering, as all classic woven fabrics shrink a little during the washing process.
