Instructions No. 3534
Difficulty: Beginner
Working time: 1 hour 30 Minutes
Step 1: Preparing the casting compound
You will need about three tablespoons of casting powder for the "Gnome" silicone full mold. Pour the powder into a mixing cup. Then add water until the mixture has a creamy consistency. To avoid lumps, stir the mixture vigorously with a stirring rod. Your aim is to achieve an even, homogeneous casting compound.
Step 2: Shaping and de-aerating
Carefully pour the prepared casting compound into the silicone mould. To remove air bubbles from the casting and achieve smooth surfaces, tap the mold lightly on the base. This allows trapped air to escape and gives your finished figures a fine structure.
Step 3: Hardening
Allow the castings to harden in the mold for around 2-3 hours. The molds are sensitive, so be careful when you take the figures out of the silicone mould . To do this, you can carefully bend the mold to gently release the castings.
Step 4: Finishing and Time to dry:
After demolding, sand the rough edges of the castings smooth with fine sandpaper . This will give your gnome figures a professional finish. Then leave them to dry completely for around eight hours so that the material reaches its full strength.
