Cross stitch is difficult? In this tutorial we would like to show you how easy it is to design your own cross stitch motifs using graph paper.
Print out the graph paper that we have provided you with as a template. Transfer your desired motif or lettering onto it with a pencil.
Now it depends on the weave thickness of the fabric you have chosen:
With the Cashel fabric, the "holes" to be embroidered in are pretty much 1 mm apart. This means that one box of the graph paper corresponds to one cross stitch on this fabric. Now, in this case, each little box that touches the pencil line of the sketch is coloured. This creates the pixelated cross-stitch pattern at all.
In the Rico monk fabric, the cross stitches are about 2 x 2 mm. This means that in this case 4 boxes of the paper have to be coloured per stitch: So the pattern becomes coarser.
In this way, you can create your motifs, lettering and whatever else you would like to embroider on the fabric in no time at all.
