3) Decorate the crown with " felt "
Draw the desired designs on the cut-out crown using the Strich Ex pen. Then place the crown on the needle-felting pad and tear off a small amount of Märchenwolle. Place the wool over the pre-drawn designs and carefully pierce the wool repeatedly with the felting needle. Hold the needle vertically while doing so, otherwise it may break.
The small barbs on the needle cause the wool fibers to bond with each other and with the textile felt.
First, roughly shape the motif, then gradually refine the contours. Continue felting until the surfaces of the motifs feel firm and the wool holds well.
Occasionally lift the crown carefully so it doesn’t felt itself to the work surface.
4) Felting the birthday number
To felt the birthday number, cut a circle out of the textile felt , draw the number on it, and felt it securely. Then attach the birthday number to the crown using Velcro. This way, you can swap out the number as you like.
5) Attaching the “ ribbon ”
Finally, use hot glue to attach the ribbon to the crown so you can wear it.
Now your homemade birthday crown is ready!
