Creating Fall Decor on a Bark Board: A Wooden Fence with Wooden Mushrooms
Get your base ready: a bark-covered board as the base, the decorative wooden fence, and the wooden mushrooms. This way, you can loosely arrange the scene with an autumnal look before gluing anything down and check the proportions. This will help you work neatly later on and create a harmonious fall decoration.
Step 1: Paint the figures with craft paints
Paint the wooden mushrooms and other wooden figures with craft paints. It’s better to apply two thin coats of paint rather than one thick one—this ensures even coverage and helps you avoid brush strokes. Add accents in warm fall tones such as rust, ochre, brown and muted green to create a natural and harmonious look. Let the painted pieces dry completely before continuing.
Step 2: Glue the Motifs to the Fence
Place the dried figures on the wooden fence to test the arrangement until it looks just right. Then glue them in place with handicraft glue . Press each piece down briefly and give the glue time to set. This way, nothing will slip, and your fall arrangement will stay secure.
Step 3: Set up the fence on the bark board
Place the fence on the bark board. If you notice that it isn’t standing securely, secure it in a few spots with a bit of hot glue. Hot glue hardens quickly and stabilizes the fence so you can then decorate it at your leisure.
Step 4: Decorate with pinecones and leaves using “ moss, ”
Now your fall decoration gains depth: Scatter “ moss ” around the fence to softly blend the edges with the board. Place pinecones and leaves in between as natural accents.
Step 5: Place tea light jars and LED tea lights
Arrange the tea light jars to fit the scene and place LED tea lights inside them. The light really brings out the beauty of the fall colors and makes the arrangement an eye-catcher in the evening.
Step 6: Fine-tune for a harmonious overall look
Finally, check the balance: If one side looks heavier, add a little “ moss ” or a leaf there. Remove any glue residue, straighten any crooked elements, and let everything dry thoroughly. The result is a neat, long-lasting fall table decoration that also looks great on a sideboard or windowsill.
