A beautiful decoration for boho lovers! These lanterns were designed with the macramé knotting technique and are ideal for decorating the garden. The garden lanterns are also a great eye-catcher at dusk, as there are fairy lights hidden inside.
Knots needed:
- Wave knot
- Offset square knot
- Wrap knot
- Overhand knot
Instructions for a ball:
1. Unwind the fairy lights, remove the protective foil from the battery compartment and place them in an acrylic hemisphere. Put the acrylic sphere together.2. Cut 22x approx. 1 m long threads from the ribbon in the desired colour and take them double.
3. Use a wave knot to attach two threads at a time to another ribbon (approx. 30 cm long), which will later serve as a suspension. Repeat this process until all the threads have been processed.
4. Knot the suspension ribbon around the acrylic ball and tie it to the suspension eyelet of the acrylic ball.
5. Now make staggered square knots all around. Knot these a little tighter at first. The rounding of the ball will automatically make the pattern wider. Important: Make sure that the acrylic ball can still be opened at the bottom to switch the fairy lights on and off.
6. Tie the ends together in pairs with a wrap-around knot and decorate with wooden balls as desired.
7. Knot overhand knots in the hanging thread as desired to embellish.
