Set sail - new maritime craft idea ahead! These pretty little ships made of concrete are a great decoration for the summer. They bring the holiday feeling to your home without further ado.
Knotting a sail with macramé
First, the sail is knotted. For the large sail you need 18 strands of macramé yarn, for the small sail 16 strands. The length of the strands is about 80 cm each.These are doubled and attached with the lark's head knot to a round stick, which later also functions as a mast.
The sails are tied with the square knot. The ends of the strands can be shortened afterwards.
Casting a boat from concrete

Mix the concrete with water according to the package instructions to a creamy mass and fill it into the acrylic moulds. If necessary, you can coat the moulds with mould release wax beforehand to make it easier to remove the castings from the mould later.
Put the finished sails into the concrete after approx. 1 hour. By then the concrete has hardened somewhat and the sails are stable in the mass. After approx. 24 hours, the boats can be removed from the mould.
Paint the wooden balls and rings as well as the boats with craft colours. The round sticks can now be shortened and decorated with a wooden ball.
Use bamboo twine to make the wooden rings into lifebuoys. Cut one strand per ring so that it fits generously around the ring. Knot the ends together. This yarn will later form the border and the handle. Wrap four more strands of yarn at equal intervals around the ring.
Tie the lifebuoys to the mast with another strand of bamboo yarn.
