FIMO - the modelling clay for everyone
The basic recipe of the well-known FIMO modelling clay was developed by Sophie Rehbinder Kruse as early as 1939. The colourful modelling clay has been in the possession of STAEDTLER since 1978. The recipe has always been further developed and optimised. Thus, more and more different colours and impressive effect modelling pastes have been launched onto the market. But it's not only FIMO modelling clay that is available, there are also practical tools which can be wonderfully used for working with FIMO.
What makes FIMO so special?
One reason why modelling clay is so popular is that there is a suitable FIMO for every area of application and for all age groups. Children, hobby artists, hobbyists, jewellery designers and professionals will find exactly the right modelling clay for their project in the wide range of products.
Furthermore, there are no limits to the design with the mass. Whether decorations for the home, cute figures to play with, dreamlike jewellery pieces and much more can be created with FIMO modelling clay.
FIMO modelling clay
At VBS you will find a large selection of different FIMO varieties and a great choice of colours. In addition to the classic oven-hardening types, since 2010 there is also a further type of modelling clay that dries in the air.
FIMO colours & effects
The wide range of colours of FIMO modelling clay is impressive. Additionally, there are masses with different effects such as pearlescent, leather effect, metallic and many more. In addition, all oven-hardening FIMO types can be mixed with each other as desired. In this way, even more colour shades or fascinating colour gradients can be created. In addition to the individual FIMO blocks, we also offer you great material packs with matching colours in the VBS online shop. These are wonderfully suitable as starter sets or gift sets.
The modelling clay can be hardened in the oven at 110°C. FIMO Leather Effect must be put in the oven at 130°C. Tip: If you want to have curved FIMO shapes, you can put the elements over an oven-proof mould. Then the surface can be sanded or polished.
FIMO air
The difference between the oven-hardening FIMO modelling clay and FIMO air lies in the drying method. FIMO air is a ready-to-use modelling clay that dries on air. Once the material has hardened, it resembles clay and can be further worked by filing, drilling or grinding. Painting with paint or varnish also works perfectly on the hardened models.
FIMO tool
Not only the FIMO modelling clay is available from the FIMO brand. There are also practical modelling tools that make working with modelling clay easier. For example, you can use the FIMO Clay modelling machine to produce thin and even slabs of FIMO in various thicknesses. Another great tool is the FIMO Professional Clay Extruder. This is a press tool that allows you to create 20 different strands of FIMO in different shapes and thicknesses. Simply select one of the 20 different motif discs, place it in the clay extruder with a crank and press the FIMO in your desired colour. The crank handle with its ergonomically comfortable turning technique requires very little effort for results worth seeing.
You can also find FIMO lacquer in the VBS online shop. These lacquers serve as protection against colour fading and as surface protection. Additionally, they give your works of art a noble finish. You can choose between a silk matt and a shiny FIMO lacquer.
